170 delegates impress at ShrewsMUN VII
This year, we once again had the honour of hosting 10 schools at our own Shrewsbury School Model United Nations Conference.
Our theme of multiculturalism looked to celebrate the school and international community where we continue to embrace diverse ethnicities and cultures. Despite finding ourselves in a difficult situation with Mr Peach’s passing, our team managed to put together what proved to be a very successful and engaging conference.
Under the guidance of our experienced chairs, debates in committees were lively and productive with a wide range of issues being discussed from women’s rights in Iran to the role of AI in conflict. Our social event was also a hit with our delegates, all thanks to our very own George R (PH, IV) making his debut as DJ.
General Assembly (where all 170+ participants debate together) was filled with fruitful debate as we looked to resolve the issue of spy balloons, addressing topics such as national security and sovereignty.
Our winner of the Huw Peach Best Delegation award at ShrewsMUN VII was Withington Girl’s School representing Australia, who across committees performed at the highest standard. We further commend all other delegations for their hard work, great teamwork and outstanding public speaking skills.
There was an impressive level of debate and we were delighted to see delegates grow in experience and confidence throughout the conference. We look forward to seeing more in the future and continuing the legacy of ShrewsMUN.

Co-Secretary General
