The Turing prize is awarded for innovative pupil application of AI technology. The AI tools that are freely available online are very powerful, but how and what you use them for, lies in the imagination and skill of the human in control.

The judges were absolutely delighted with the range and quality of entries and have decided to award two highly commended prizes, and an overall winner as follows:

Highly Commended: Jason Gu (O, LVI)

The goal of Jason’s project was to leverage AI as a powerful idea-generating tool to design a supercar that stands out in the competitive supercar market. The project aimed to push the boundaries of innovation, performance, and aesthetics, ensuring that the final design captures the essence of cutting-edge automotive engineering. Jason then took the ideas generated by AI and combined them with his own skills on CAD to model the car and bring the designs to life.

The judges were very impressed with the idea of using the AI as an assistant in the design process and matching that with his existing skills.

Highly Commended: Dylan Heslop (O, III)

Dylan used AI to help create the concept for a range of eco-friendly reusable water bottles. AI has been used to help generate the idea, starter designs of the water bottles, and the layout and text for a website. Home | Greensip

Judges were impressed with the concept and branding. Suitable prompts had been used to generate this content and it was clear that it had the potential to be developed into a real business in the future with further work.

Winner: Harry Pinsent (S, LVI)

Harry has used AI to help him programme, train and develop a tool called AuthentAI which can detect deepfake AI generated videos. He trained an AI model using resnet-18 architecture and used excellent prompt engineering to generate the code he needed to run the model. He then made a front-end interface for the user to be able to upload the video they want to test, to check if it was made with AI or not.

The judges were highly impressed by the way that Harry used AI to amplify his own skills and ideas. It is a superb example of how the most powerful applications of AI come from the combination between human intelligence and the power of the machine.
