We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Frazer Matthews-Bird as Housemaster of Oldham’s Hall from 1 September 2025.

We received a very strong field of external and internal applications. After a thorough recruitment process, involving Oldham’s boys in a pupil panel and candidate tours, Dr Matthews-Bird emerged as the outstanding candidate to succeed Mr Exham.  Frazer is currently Head of Geography and Tutor in Oldham’s. He was previously Assistant Housemaster in Oldham’s before taking on the role of Head of Geography. Throughout the process, Frazer conveyed a deep understanding of the many existing strengths of the House and a clear and measured vision for a thriving future under his leadership.

Frazer joined Shrewsbury in 2018. He has led the Geography Faculty with great energy and combined this academic leadership role with excellent contributions to the pastoral and co-curricular life of the School, not least in leading expeditions in the UK and overseas. A keen football and rugby player, and outdoorsman, he is fluent in French, having lived in France for five years as a child.

Frazer is married to Chloe, and they have two young children. The family will move into the House over the summer holidays.
