Shrewsbury School is celebrating the success of our Drama pupils in the inaugural year of offering the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) qualifications.

The LAMDA Exams are open to anyone looking to gain confidence in speech and performance.

Shrewsbury has this year started offering the examinations to pupils, with all candidates receiving either Merit or Distinction in various classes.

Drama teacher Ian Reade said: “In the inaugural year of running LAMDA Speech and Drama examinations at Shrewsbury School, I feel immensely proud and pleased that all candidates received either Merit or Distinction in their various classes.

“Edward D (S, III), Charlotte F (EDH, V) and Clara G (G, LVI) all received Distinctions for their Solo Acting examinations.  Clara particularly shone on the day, achieving almost full marks across the board.

“Both Charlotte and Clara are now holders of much-coveted LAMDA Bronze Medals, alongside Louis M (Ch, LVI) and Henry W (Ch, LVI) who both also scored incredibly well in individual sections.  These awards are not only symbols of their individual artistic prowess but are also worth highly prized UCAS points.”

The school will be offering both Acting and Public Speaking classes next year, but spaces are limited.  Anyone interested should contact Mr Reade on [email protected]
