Encouraging results for rowers in GB Trials

Six Shrewsbury pupils travelled to Boston, Lincolnshire over coach weekend to compete over five kilometres of the River Witham in small boats in the first round of Great Britain trials.

The rowers will be trialed in numerous ergo and water-based assessments over the coming months to gain selection to represent Great Britain at the Junior World Rowing Championships to be held in Varese, Italy in July.

The trials are highly competitive and there were some encouraging results with George S (SH, UVI) coming in 33rd of 117 in the single. Bill H (LVI) and Seb P (I, LVI) came 3rd in the pairs event. Issy T (MSH, UVI) was the highest placed in the girl’s event coming 43rd of 97.
