Shrewsbury Sporting roundup

There have been some impressive sporting performances from Salopians this term.  

Rowing 

The Senior and J16 Rowers travelled to Gloucester for the Wycliffe Big Head last Saturday. 

The Senior boys fielded two eights in the morning division with both crews coming second (of six) in their respective events, Open Eights and J18 Eights. The Senior Girls came 2nd and 6th in the Women’s Quad event. 

In the afternoon the J16 boys came third in their event and the Senior Girls came 4th in the WJ18 Quad. 

Football 

The 1st XI won 3-0 v St. Bede’s College, to keep an unbeaten record in the Hudl league.  On the score sheet were Harry C (Ph, UVI), Louis C (Ph, V) and Will T (Rb, LVI).  Their final game in the Hudl League is against Hampton School.   

The 2nd XI scored a couple of quality goals on the way to going out of the ESFA Cup in the 5th Rd to BrookHouse School.  Their efforts will now focus on the SSCFA U19 League.

Fencing 

Having returned from Romania, where Eleanor B (EDH, V) competed for GBR in the U17 Cadet Sabre event, Eleanor has now been selected to represent GBR in both the team and individual events at the European Championships in Serbia at the end of February. 

Basketball 

The U18a team beat Thomas Telford 103-25 in the Shropshire County Cup.
