Sports Competition

It’s been a successful week for RSSBC.

On Sunday morning the 1st & 2nd VIII’s travelled to Chester to compete in the North of England Head on the River Dee. The event saw fifty-nine eights take to the water.

The 1st VIII produced a very strong row to place 2nd overall behind a senior men’s crew from Royal Chester Rowing Club.

The 2nd VIII raced in the J18 eights category and had a very close battle with the King’s Chester 1st VIII. The 2nd VIII produced their best row this season to win their event by two seconds.

This week also saw the good news that four Shrewsbury pupils have been invited to attend the GB Rowing Spring Assessments taking place from the 26th -29th March at Holme Pierrepoint in Nottingham.

It is a strong statement for the Boat Club to have the equal highest number of athletes invited from one club in attendance. Congratulations to Isabelle T (MSH, UVI), Alice C (G, LVI), George S (SH, UVI) and Natalia T (EDH, V) for earning their invitation after the going through the first rounds of trials.

The pupils will be competing for selection for the GB team to compete at the Munich Regatta and European Championships taking place in May.
