Success at Shrewsbury Regatta for Rowing Crews
Over the weekend the Boat Club had forty-one crews competing in glorious conditions at the Shrewsbury Regatta.
The regatta ran over two days, with the school crews taking to the water mostly in eights on the Saturday afternoon over the longer course, and then racing mainly in small boats on the Sunday in the sprint regatta.
The side-by-side match racing made for a great excitement and fun as the crews raced past the school’s boathouse. There were numerous wins across the weekend to go along with the significant gain in race experience. The following crews won their events:
- J17 8+
- J16 8+
- J15 8+
- WJ16 8+
- WJ15 8+
- Op 4+m
- Mx 4+
- J15 4X+
- WJ18 2-
- Mx 2X
- J17 1X
- J16 1X
The 1st VIII and 1st Quad also travelled to Chester on Saturday for a fixture with Royal Chester on the River Dee. The excellent conditions provided the perfect opportunity for the crews to do a number of competitive side by side pieces in preparation for the National Schools Regatta on the first Saturday of half term.
