Shrewsbury announced as a Microsoft Showcase School
Shrewsbury School is proud to announce that it is one of an elite group of schools recognised as a Microsoft Showcase School for 2024-2025.
Microsoft Showcase Schools are recognised for their educational transformation that includes innovation in teaching, learning and preparing students for the future.
The programme is an opportunity to engage with Microsoft, get support from local Global Training Partners and engage with like-minded school leaders around the world to deepen and expand education transformation.
This accolade is awarded to just 90 state and independent schools in the UK, and to 450 from across the globe.
The Showcase School accolade comes just weeks after Shrewsbury was named as a finalist in the Independent School of the Year Awards for the Best Use of Education Technology.
As well as the school being named a Showcase School, six members of teaching staff have been named Microsoft Innovator Education Experts for this year.
Congratulations to:
- Toby Percival
- Adam Morris
- Morgan Bird
- Amy Smiter
- Jerome Nogues
- Henry Exham
Microsoft Innovative Educator Experts are selected from tens of thousands of applications globally. They represent visionary educators who are always learning, growing and collaborating with others to create positive change in education.
Head of Digital Learning, Henry Exham said: “It is terrific to be recognised for our use of Microsoft software for teaching and learning. We want our pupils to be digitally literate and improve their outcomes here in school, but to also thrive in life beyond Shrewsbury.
“With Microsoft 365 being the most commonly used office software worldwide, we are providing opportunities for our pupils to gain important future ready skills. Being a Showcase School allows us to partner directly with Microsoft to make sure we are accessing, and helping develop, the best EdTech tools available including AI. Not only this, but we can also network with the Showcase School global community to share best practice.
“This recognition by Microsoft highlights the superb work of the teachers who have developed their own understanding of technology in order to provide the best classroom experience to the pupils.”
To further support the development of EdTech at Shrewsbury, a seminar was delivered to parents on the use of Artificial Intelligence in school. This delivered an insight into how AI will impact on the pupils’ education and how it will be used going forward.
A video of the seminar is available to view below and is also available on the Parent Portal.
