Shrewsbury
Online event for those interested in a career in the sports industry
Shrewsbury School Futures Department is delighted to welcome two expert speakers to take part in a Q & A panel around the theme of careers in sport for an online webinar.
The online event, which takes place on Tuesday, September 21st at 7.30pm, promises to be an insightful and helpful activity for students interested in this industry and is open to anyone to attend.
The webinar will see Head of Futures Chris Wain chat to two professionals who are working in the sports industry:
Matt studied Law at the University of Leeds before training as a management consultant with Deloitte, where he spent 11 years helping deliver transformation programmes for clients across Europe, the Middle East and North America. In 2010, he secured a secondment, through Deloitte, to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organising Committee. This allowed him to indulge in his passion - big, complex, impactful major events.
In 2014, Matt joined The Sports Consultancy as Director of the commercial consultancy unit. Over the last 7 years, he has worked with some of the world's biggest event owners and host governments, including Formula 1, Rugby World Cup, The Ryder Cup, America's Cup, Heineken Champions Cup, NFL, Major League Baseball, Nitro Circus and Red Bull.
Mike studied Business Management at Oxford Brookes. He joined Deloitte’s graduate programme in 2013, training as a Chartered Accountant before securing a role in their Sports Business Group. Mike spent 4 years in the Sports Business Group working globally with a wide range of clients including UEFA, the ICC, ITF and a number of leading European Football Clubs.
Mike was also the sub-editor of the industry-leading Annual Review of Football Finance in 2020 and contributed to a number of other publications. In 2021, Mike has joined City Football Group as Head of Finance for Football - overseeing all aspects of the finances of Manchester City’s first team and academy operations - as well as supporting the player trading activities of a number of CFG’s network of clubs around the world.
