Old Salopians share careers advice at two Futures events

Old Salopians have been back to School to help current students as they consider their future in the world of work.

The first event featured a panel of experts from the sports industry. Hosted by BBC Sports Broadcaster Jonathan Legard (O 1974-9) it also included top Sports Executive Nic Coward (PH 1979-84) and the ECB Director of Events Operations Rob Hillman (M 1994-99)

The next involved a carousel of talks for the Lower Sixth where eight guests were invited in to talk about their careers to date.

The experiences of the visitors was vast, including marketing managers, architects, radio broadcasters, accountants, pharmaceutical engineers and more.

With seven talks to choose from, the Lower Sixth students were able to select the hosted discussion that was of most interest to them.

Thanks to Roy Chatterjee (SH 2009-11), Sinead McGrath (MSH 2009-11), James Brown (O 2006-11), Matt Clay (PH 1988-1993), Andy Hill (S 1991-96)and Chris Moore (Rb 2000-02).

Since the event, the feedback has been excellent, with the following a small sample of the comments the Futures Department has received about the evening:

“The speaker was informative and open about their profession so I got a good insight to their experiences at work. They clearly indicated the qualities they were looking for when hiring potential colleagues, which was really helpful.”
