Volunteers' work with primary schools goes from strength to strength
This year our volunteering programme has continued to go from strength to strength.
A particular highlight has been our continued community work with five local Primary Schools; Woodfield School, Radbrook Primary School, The Martin Wilson School, The Cathedral School and The Grange Primary School.
Each week, many of our volunteers visit each school to listen to the younger years read to aid literacy progress. The feedback from these schools is great; Paul Higgins, Head at the Shrewsbury Cathedral Primary School says, “Each week we really look forward to the Shrewsbury School volunteers’ help. They are a dedicated group who patiently listen to our early years read and help progress in the classroom.”
A particular achievement earlier this term was when our bee-keeping volunteers visited Coleham Primary School during Science Week to show Year 3s the importance of bees through four classroom-based activities.

Later this term, during Activities Week, our Fourth form will spend three days at both Longden and Oak Meadow Primary Schools, helping with admin tasks, games and aiding readers in the classroom and we will continue to make a positive impact in the local community.
Thank you to all the staff and students that are involved in all our volunteering activities.
