Shrewsbury School pupil Walter S-E (R, III) is preparing for an epic challenge, combining his love of adventure with his passion for animal welfare.

On 30th May Walter will take on the Three Peaks Challenge, aiming to conquer the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales — Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon — all within 24 hours.

Walter is using this challenge to raise funds for International Aid for the Protection & Welfare of Animals (IAPWA), a charity dedicated to helping animals in need of urgent care and support worldwide. His fundraising efforts have already gained impressive momentum, with £891 raised so far through his JustGiving page.

Walter’s decision to support IAPWA stems from his deep love for animals and personal experiences of losing cherished family pets. His 20-year-old cat, Pootle, holds a special place in his heart and has inspired him to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable animals.

“I’m incredibly passionate about helping animals in need,” said Walter. “If every pupil and teacher at school donated just one pound, it would go a long way in providing urgent care and support for animals around the world.”

Walter’s commitment to adventure and animal welfare is part of a bigger goal. As a successful member of the IAPWA 2025 Youth Programme, he hopes to raise awareness about animal protection while encouraging young people to engage with the natural world.

“My aim is to be an inspiring example to help and encourage young people to get outside and connect with nature, explore responsibly and at the same time give back to the world around them through supporting causes they are passionate about.”
