Churchill's boys show off their dance moves in charity Zumbathon
The boys of Churchill’s Hall were dancing up a sweat in a Zumbathon to raise funds for Restart Africa.
They took over the Sports Hall on Sunday afternoon and danced their way to raising over £2,900 so far.
Churchill’s pupil Austin C said: “Churchill’s Hall took part in a unique but entertaining event to raise money for Restart Africa. The announcement of the ‘Zumbathon’ was greeted with excitement and the boys were keen to show off their dance moves for a good cause.
“Everyone enjoyed the event and we knew that every pound of our contribution to the fundraiser made someone else’s life slightly better, giving us all the determination to push through. We are very happy to have raised as much as we have done towards a charity as important as this.”
Restart looks after street children in Gilgil, Kenya. They provide food, shelter, welfare and education. The Churchillians were particularly inspired by the role of education in breaking the cycle of poverty and giving these children a chance of a brighter future. Just £300 can provide a street child with an entire year of education. The boys’ aim is to raise £3000, as this will pay for a year’s education for ten street children.
They have almost reached their target, please donate here if you haven’t already!
