Salopians set for 180 mile charity run in honour of Jago
Two Old Salopians are undertaking a charity challenge in honour of their school friend.
Two of last year’s Upper Sixth, Nick Argyle and Louis Graham, have launched a fundraising campaign in honour of their friend, Jago Ainslie (S 2017-22), who tragically died of Meningitis in December. They have decided to run 187 miles over 18 days in February, the distance from Shrewsbury to Newcastle, which is where Jago was due to start university in September.
Nick (SH) said: “Losing Jago in December was a great shock to us all. To go some way to honour his memory, Louis and I felt that raising funds for Meningitis now seemed appropriate. The charity aims to develop greater awareness of such a disease and to fight against it.”
Louis (Rt) added: “Neither of us are long distance runners and we want to challenge ourselves as a way of remembering Jago’s outgoing spirit. We plan to complete the final day of running together in Newcastle, which is especially poignant to us as that’s where he would have started university in the Autumn. Any support to this cause will be greatly appreciated and could go a long way in helping save many lives in the future.”
Toby Percival, their tutor whilst at school, said that he was "incredibly proud of ‘Team TPP."
"Jago was an integral part of a very close tutor group, and Nick and Louis’ efforts are a fitting tribute to an incredible young man.”
