Over the Easter holidays our Sixth Form Spanish pupils enjoyed a trip to Madrid. Hal H (Ch, LVI) has reflected on their time abroad.

"On our first day in Madrid, we took a guided tour around the Royal Palace, viewing the Royal gardens from above and looking up to The Cathedral of Almudena. Before heading to the Language School, we stopped for churros and ice cream. Once returned, we first met our host families and soon we had unpacked our things in their apartment and were enjoying Spanish tortilla and other traditional Spanish food.

"Over the next 5 days, we took the bus to the language school, where we had Spanish lessons from 09:30 until 13:30. During the afternoons, we visited many touristy places – the interior of the royal palace, Atlético Madrid’s football stadium, a bullfighting ring and more.

"Some highlights from the trip would have to be a lucky encounter with the King and Queen of Spain, where we waited over half an hour just to catch a glimpse of them, the visit to Atlético Madrid’s stadium and visiting El Retiro Parque.

"The language lessons we had for the duration of the trip were helpful to our Spanish; practicing mainly grammar and some vocabulary, it definitely helped to improve our language skills."
