On Sunday the Boat Club took part in the Shrewsbury Regatta hosted by Pengwern Boat Club on our home stretch of the Severn.

It was a great opportunity to get a large number of crews out racing. The event programme saw two hundred and eighty-seven races taking place throughout the day with races running every two minutes. The riverbank was lined with competitors and supporters for the whole the day.

With thirty-two Shrewsbury crews racing there was no lack of excitement, wins and losses. Without going into too much detail there were wins across all the competing age groups and particular mention going to the Senior Boys and Girls squads winning several events including winning the Open Eights and the Open Fours events. The J16 boys won the J17 Eights and Fours races, and the biggest cheer of the day came when the J15 boys' VIII put in an impressive performance to see off the Kings Chester 1st VIII in the Open Eights semi-final.

On Monday a handful of pupils raced in small boats. Joe D (PH, V) won the J16 & J17 Sculls events. Robbie L (S, IV) and Sammy P (SH, IV) won the J15 doubles event before both making it through two rounds to reach the final with Robbie taking the honours in a closely contested race.
