School House and Moser's triumph in thrilling Hope Simpson Ergo Challenge

Tuesday evening saw the annual running of the Hope Simpson Ergo Challenge in the Sports Hall.
The competition saw each house put out a team of four per year group to cover the distance in a relay format.
The packed sports hall witnessed some fantastic racing and tremendous house spirit with vociferous support for all year groups.
The third form kicked things off with Mary Sidney Hall taking the honours ahead of Emma Darwin Hall and Grove. The third form boys’ competition was won by Oldham’s ahead of School House and Ingram's.
In the fourth form girls’ competition Moser’s won ahead of Queen's and Mary Sidney Hall. In the boy’s competition School House held on to take a narrow win by less than a second ahead of Oldham’s with Ingram's placing third.
Moser’s repeated their winning ways with a strong performance in the fifth form girls competition followed by an extremely close finish between Emma Darwin Hall (2nd) and Queen's (3rd). Churchills took the win in the 5th Form boys competition followed by Riggs and Oldham’s.
The Sixth Form relays saw some outstanding performances with two records falling in the process. The first saw Ingram’s Lower Sixth take a commanding lead to break the record set by Rigg’s in 2017 by a staggering 14.9 seconds. They were followed by Severn Hill and School House in second and third. In the Lower Sixth Girls relay Grove took honours closely followed by Emma Darwin Hall and then Moser’s.
In the Upper Sixth relay it was the Moser’s Girls’ turn to break a record with a run-away performance from start to finish to finish 7.8 seconds ahead of the record set by Grove in 2020. They were followed home by Emma Darwin Hall and Mary Sidney Hall. In the Upper Sixth boys relay School House also lead from start to finish to record an impressive win ahead of Riggs and Oldham’s in second and third respectively.
The final tally of results saw School House take the overall win in the boys’ competition and Moser’s win in the girls competition.
