Eleven school crews made the journey down to Dorney Lake on Saturday for a friendly fixture with Eton and Latymer.

Due to the late Easter date this year and a shorter first half of the Summer term we chose to run the fixture this term and provide the crews with an early gauge of their progress on the multi lane course.

The different age groups raced a number of times over different distances to give them all a competitive side by side race experience. There were close results across the squads with most crews running with overlap with Eton or Latymer over the length of the race course. The racing was hugely beneficial to all with most crews making significant strides between their first and second runs.

The J15’s had their first taste of racing on a multilane course and for the boys the competition couldn’t have been closer with the Eton and Shrewsbury crews battling alongside each other from start to finish. Their final race saw six crews separated by half a length over the finish line.

It was a great day out for the Boat Club and a huge thank you to Eton College for hosting us.
