Boat Club Competes at Schools’ Head of the River and Junior Sculling Head

It's been a busy week on the water for the Boat Club.
On Tuesday, the Boat Club sent five crews to compete in the School's Head of the River in London, racing over the 6.8km stretch of the River Thames from Chiswick Bridge to Putney Embankment. With 334 school and junior crews in the event, it was a fantastic opportunity to test themselves on one of the sport’s most iconic courses.
The 1st VIII did well to place eleventh overall after having to make a quick repair to their boat after hitting submerged debris on the way to the start.
1st VIII placed 11th of 39
2nd VIII placed 13th of 18
GJ16 VIII placed 14th of 17
J16A VIII placed 13th of 23
J16 2nd VIII placed 9th of 10
Thank you to the Sabrina Club for hosting a lunch for parents and supporters at the Blue Anchor near Hammersmith Bridge.
On Wednesday five crews raced at the Junior Sculling Head at Dorney Lake. Not to be out done by the previous day’s racing the event saw close on six hundred crews taking to the water over the course of the day.
The first Shrewsbury crew to race was the Senior Girls 1st Quad that placed 8th of 34 crews in WJ18 4X.
A number of J15’s took part in their first British Rowing event with some encouraging results:
J15 4X+ placed 15th of 69
WJ15 4X+ placed 41st of 73
J15 8X+ placed 6th of 12
