Captain of Boats Mollie secures US Rowing Scholarship to University of Tulsa

The path of Salopian rowers heading over the Pond to pursue their university studies is a very well-trodden one, with a handful heading east each year. 

The latest to be snapped up by a US college is Captain of Boats Mollie P (M), who will be heading to the University of Tulsa next year. 

Mollie is delighted to be joining the Hurricanes next year: “Being awarded a rowing scholarship to the University of Tulsa is an exciting opportunity and a huge step in my rowing journey. I’m really looking forward to training and competing in the US collegiate system, pushing myself alongside a strong squad, and experiencing a new environment both academically and athletically.

“The idea of rowing in the US was first introduced to me by the rowing staff at Shrewsbury, and they have been incredibly supportive throughout the entire process. From helping me understand the different university programs to guiding me through applications and the recruitment process, their advice and experience have been invaluable. The coaching, training, and competitive atmosphere at RSSBC have played a huge role in my development as an athlete, giving me the skills and mindset needed to take this next step.”

Lead Rowing Coach Findlay Ralley said: “Mollie has made significant progress throughout her time at Royal Shrewsbury School Boat Club. In her penultimate year, her ability and work ethic earned her a spot in the 1st Eight, owing her the opportunity to represent the school at national events including Henley Women’s and Henley Royal Regatta.

“Building on this success, she is currently aiming for selection in the 1st Quad, continually demonstrating her commitment to excellence as Captain of Boats. We look forward to seeing what Mollie can achieve at the University of Tulsa over the next couple of years!”
