Fifteen Shrewsbury crews travelled north on Saturday to take part in the Head of the Dee in Chester.

The event saw five clubs participating in the head race with crews racing either the short course (2900m) or the long course (4000m). The fairly mild conditions for the time of year made for a great day out on the water and a pleasing set of results for the club.

There was a mix of boat types across the clubs, so results were calculated using %GMT (Gold Medal Times) to allow a comparison between boat types, distances and age groups. A strong showing from all the age groups saw six of our crews placing within the top ten out of the fifty-one crews that took part.

Thank you to King's School Chester for organising the event and to the Queens Park Chester Rowing Club for hosting us.

Director of Rowing
