Shrewsbury
Best ever results in British Physics Olympiad
Shrewsbury School is delighted to announce its best ever year for the British Physics Olympiad Round 1 Challenge.
The competition serves to challenge a range of student knowledge, preparation and ability, allowing access for good students, whilst also aiming at stretching and challenging the top young physicists in the country in a national competition. Notably, university professors who dared to take on the challenge have found themselves humbled.
A Top Gold award is the highest level of award in the competition and this year three Shrewsbury Schools students proudly achieved this prestigious award. Mico X (EDH, UVI), Peter Z (I, LVI) and Michael L (SH, LVI) are very pleased with their performance and enjoyed the paper! Their outstanding performance not only reflects their individual dedication but also their enjoyment of the rigorous paper presented.
Earning a Top Gold is no small feat, as it reserved for the top 6% of students nationwide. Achieving a Gold award places a student within the esteemed top 16% bracket across the country and Hal C (Rt, UVI) was pleased to be awarded with this.
Additionally, Jeremy G (O, UVI) and Joseph C (Cases, UVI) awarded Silver.
At Shrewsbury School we take immense pride in nurturing and fostering the talents of our students, empowering them to excel and make significant strides in their academic pursuits. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all participants for their outstanding achievements and commendable dedication to the field of Physics.
In addition, we wish to congratulate all Fifth Formers who took part in the British Physics Olympiad’s Intermediate Physics Challenge online version, especially the 30 students who achieved a gold award.
