Top panel of speakers offer advice on Studying in the US
Fresh from the largest ever group of Salopians heading over the Atlantic to start their university adventure, we were thrilled to welcome the next generation to our biennial US universities conference, whose aim is to provide an overview of the important things to consider about applying and studying in America.
Regarded international universities guru David Hawkins, founder of The University Guys, provided an insightful introduction into the key aspects and differences of a US college education; he was followed by our own Harvard fellow, Mr Rosado, who had the unenviable task of covering the ins and outs of the SAT and ACT, which have seen considerable change over the past few years.
With a good number of Salopians going on Sports Scholarships each year, Rob Thomas of Elite Sport USA provided a useful summary of the process, with the mind-blowing figures involved in college sport offering a stark difference to the UK!
We were also delighted to welcome James Dean, Vice-Chair of the British Morehead-Cain Scholarship committee, to talk about the oldest merit-based prize in the US. With 2 Old Salopians currently holding Morehead-Cain Scholarships, it was fantastic for the assembled group to hear of the transformational opportunities it provides.
