The Pfirsich Preis returns to support German pupils further language studies
Following a successful inaugural year, The Pfirsich Preis is open for a second year for applications to support a pupil studying German to help further their academics.
The Pfirsich Preis, set up with the generous support of Mr Peach’s wife, Sophie, has been established to honour the outstanding and inspiring commitment of former Shrewsbury School Head of German, Huw Peach.
The award will provide financial support to one Germanist per year to extend their linguistic capability and passion for German. The successful applicant would have the opportunity to spend up to two weeks in Germany, experiencing German culture at first hand through intensive language lessons, cultural excursions and staying with a host family.
Last year's applicant, Jessica F-A (EDH, LVI) enjoyed a summer improving her German skills which she found invaluable.
The funding would be primarily used towards tuition and accommodation, whilst the student would be expected to cover the costs for travel. The award would be suitable for students who have a passion for German and who have a vested interest in pursuing the language to a higher level, fulfilling Mr Peach’s passion for full German immersion.
