Academic News Fourth Form

One Fourth Former has been busy throughout the summer gaining qualifications as a volunteer and becoming a Dementia Friend.

Limonée F (IV, G) spent the summer completing a Supported Volunteering Project, becoming a Dementia Fiend where she learned how to help and work with people living with Dementia, as well as completing a Book of You Volunteering programme, where she helped people living with memory loss learn how to use an online story app.

The June 2021 Supported Volunteering project with the Flintshire Local Voluntary Services Council, where she gained an Accreditation Volunteering Level 1, saw the Salopian complete a range of voluntary tasks, from gardening to litter picking, as well was classroom activities.

A council officer who worked with Limonée while she completed her qualification said: “Limonée was punctual, reliable and attended the sessions with a positive, ‘can do’ attitude.  She was hard working and was happy to get involved in any of the tasks suggested.”

Limonée said: “I enjoyed meeting new people, working in a team, and helping others. It was an interesting new experience, and I was happy to work in a team and share the responsibility to achieve results.

“I have learnt how volunteering can make a big difference and has a positive effect on others, and how happy it makes you feel when you have completed the task.

“I have lots of ideas now on how I can volunteer in the future, especially supporting elderly people and helping young children.”

Well done Limonée!
