Fourth Form to explore independent projects for Higher Project Qualification
This week saw the launch of the Higher Project Qualification (HPQ) for Fourth Form.
The HPQ invites students to research a topic of their own choosing; either by developing an existing curriculum interest or exploring something totally different. Students may write an essay or produce an artefact such as a piece of art, film or design. They are encouraged to read widely on their chosen topic, use a range of resources and plan their time carefully. Finally, they give a presentation on their project upon completion in the Summer Term, having worked on their public speaking and communication skills.
The qualification is accredited by AQA and is graded at GCSE level (A*-C).
Emma Wheeler, HPQ Coordinator, said: "It was lovely to see so many students opt to attend the introductory sessions and express such a keen interest in their own academic enrichment. Participation affords a wonderful opportunity to express individual interests and talents, and we very much look forward to seeing the projects develop."
