Thirty-Seven Senior and J16 boats took to the water at Runcorn Head on Saturday.

The event saw an armada of Shrewsbury small boats tackling a 3650m stretch of the River Weaver. Bill H (Rt, UVI) reinforced his strong performance at the VSW sculling races with a win in the J18 singles event. Toby M (I, LVI) held off a challenge from five other RSSBC singles to win the J17 singles event.

The Senior Girls recorded wins in the J17 4X- and in the J17 and J18 4X+ events.

WJ17 4X- Sophie W (EDH, LVI), Kate V (G, LVI), Allanah D (EDH, V) and Katie H (MSH, LVI)

WJ17 4X+ Grace Y (G, V), Bea M (MSH, LVI), Nia K (M, LVI), Aoife B (EDH, V) and Dan G(O, UVI)

WJ18 4X+ Annabella S (EDH, LVI), Kitty R (M, V), Mia W (G, UVI), Daisy S (G, LVI) and Sean L(SH, LVI)

Katie H (MSH, LVI) came home with two medals on the day by winning the WJ17 singles event in the afternoon following her success in the coxless quad in the morning.

The two J16 boys’ quads had a close race between them to decide who won the silverware with only three seconds separating both boats. The crew of Oscar C (Rb, V), Max H (Rb, V), Will B (SH, V), Harry B (PH, V) and Nat T (EDH, LVI) were delighted to secure the win.
