Old Salopians

A Charity Cricket Match organised by OS James Aston (R 2007 -2012) at School on Sunday May 28th raised a fantastic £8,904 for Alzheimers Research UK.

James’s father David Aston who was a geography teacher and Housemaster of Rigg’s Hall (1993-2001) has dementia at the young age of 60. The match was one of 23 challenges James has set himself to raise money for the charity which funds research into the causes of the condition. Ten Old Salopians joined other local cricketers to make up three teams who played a T10 competition. There was also a bar, barbecue and raffle.

The challenges will become increasingly difficult through the year. James has pledged to give up alcohol and has already completed the 3 Peaks Challenge in Scotland. He has also taken part in a 5 day trek across the Sahara Desert and run the Lulworth Cove half marathon. The campaign will culminate in an Iron Man at the end of the year.
