A Level Biologists spent a day enjoying a series of lectures from experts in their fields at the University of Birmingham.

The group of Upper Sixth pupils travelled to Birmingham for Science Live, which featured scientists including Professor Alice Roberts, Professor Robert Winston, Dr Jenny Rohn, Dr Giles Yeo and Prof Dame Sue Black.

Science Live offers A Level students the chance to hear from some of their best scientists in their specialisms, as well as offering help with exams and revision and help with their future university choices.

Charlie S (EDH) said: “I had a fantastic day at Birmingham University watching a series of lectures that we had the opportunity to attend. From talks by Professor Dame Sue Black about her career in forensic anthropology to Professor Giles Yeo discussing the powerful genetic and biological influences on food intake.

“Each lecture came with valuable insight and experience offering inspiration for future careers in science. The day also provided lots of advice for A-level exams, such as the types of questions tested, top tips in the exam, examination techniques and revision techniques. Overall, I would recommend this event to future A-level biologists as it was very encouraging and informative.”
