House Singing 2023 - an energetic evening of entertainment
At the end of a rather intense first half of term, we finished for Exeat with an energised and thoroughly enjoyable evening of House Singing.
This year was adjudicated by Alex Aitken, a West End Musical Director who has worked with students of all ages both in both a choral and instrumental context, Pip Jopling who is Director of Music at Prestfelde School and is doing a fabulous job of encouraging the next cohort of young musicians and Jonathan Wysome who alongside being Head of Music at Haberdashers’ Adams is also a Musical Director for a number of theatre productions.
Even at the end of a fairly intense term, it was applaudable to witness every house give 110% on stage in colourful and engaging performances. The house bands, this year coached by Ethan Poon, did superbly in supporting their house songs in stylish and accomplished renditions. As normal, every student at school participated in the house unison songs with a select group of between 8-14 students from each house forming the part-songs, many of which embarked on some incredibly challenging arrangements to a very commendable level.
