Royal Shrewsbury School Rifle Club celebrate success in BSSRA League
The Rifle Club are celebrating their success in the British Schools Small-bore Rifle Association Autumn League competition.
After over five rounds of shooting the team triumphed by narrowly winning their division. The Shrewsbury A team won 3 of the rounds and were placed second in the other two. Their overall points total of 2229 was sufficient to beat St Albans A by 11 points.
Consistency proved crucial in a competitive league - in round 3 Shrewsbury led the way with a total of 460 with two teams on 459 and one on 457. Richard W (Rb, IV) scored an amazing 98 in the final round as he and the Captain of Shooting, Jonty R (Rb, UVI), led the way in the average score table. Izzie N (G, IV) and Kitty R (M, V) shot consistently to average 92 over five rounds and Freddie G (O, UVI) produced a personal best of 95 in the final round to help secure the title.
Richard’s 98 won the prize as the highest score in the division. The team look forward to promotion for next term’s Spring League and the B team will look to emulate their success.
