CCF attend Rifles Shooting Competition

The Rifles is the largest infantry regiment in the British Army and members of our own CCF Rifles Section attended a shooting competition and familiarisation event last weekend.
The team of seven cadet enjoyed first class coaching from the Rifles Operational Shooting Team and progressed hugely in their shooting skills following one to one coaching from some of the best shots in the world.
The team enjoyed the delights of staying in an army camp and the excitement of a ‘falling plate’ competition where teams battle it out to shoot down metal plates before the team next to them, and this is after sprinting some 100m carrying their rifles (luckily not loaded at the time!)
The team also visited the Officers Mess of 4 Rangers – a specialist and new Infantry regiment and while there enjoyed a meal and talks from serving officers including a visit from Officer Cadet Tom Plaut (OS) who is currently undergoing officer training at Sandhurst before being commissioned into 2 Rifles after he passes out in April of this year.
Many thanks to Captain Jason Till and Tony Workman for also supporting the event.
The CCF Rifles team was:
Sgt Alex M (I, LVI)
LCpl Ernie G (I, LVI)
Cadet Archie F (I, IV)
Cadet Hattie B (M, IV)
Cadet Sara W (M, IV)
Cadet Oscar D (I, IV)
Cadet Henry H (S, IV)
