Ingram's boys take on Shropshire 3 Peaks Challenge for charity
Ingram’s has always had a certain flare for mad, ‘Type 2 Fun’ challenges, as Mr Griffiths loves to call them.
Two years ago we had our very own ‘Ingram’s Ironman’ around site, this time we wanted to go one better with the Shropshire 3 Peaks Challenge.
On April 28th 202, the house set out to raise £5,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust – a hugely ambitious target.
The run took us up three of the highest peaks Shropshire has to offer: Hope Bowdler, The Lawley, and finally Caer Caradoc. First up was Hope Bowdler, which we tackled right at the start following one of the public footpaths along the ridge to the summit. We then moved swiftly on with the lengthy trek to the foot of the Lawley, running straight through a marshy field before charging head on up the steep face of the hill. The gradient was such that it felt like a cliff in the spring heat, but the view from the top of the mountain was certainly a sight to behold.
After a quick descent from peak number 2, we followed a short road back to the base of Caer Caradoc. This was the highest of the three by some distance with its summit 459 metres high, so as any sane people would, we decided to run straight up one of the steepest sides of it neglecting any of the more gently inclining footpaths.
After a short rest on the summit, we dragged our exhausted selves back down towards the main road, where we rounded out the run at about 13 kilometres.
A few days later we were all delighted to see we had managed to raise a total of £5000 for a charity that is very dear to the hearts of the Ingram’s family.
