Shrewsbury students placed in top 10% of national Computational Thinking Challenge
Third and Fourth Form Computer Science students are celebrating their success in this year’s Bebras Computing Challenge.
The University of Oxford is, in partnership with the UK Computational Thinking Challenges, the National Organising Body of the UK Bebras Challenge. Over 248,000 children took part in the 2023 challenge.
160 Shrewsbury students competed, achieving 21 Gold Awards for being placed in the top 10% nationwide. These pupils can now look forward to an invitation to take part in the Oxford Computing Challenge in January with the prospect of making it through to the finals held at Hertford College.
At the Intermediate level, Hiro M (Rt, III) and Chit S (R, III) deserve a special mention for achieving an outstanding score, 158 being the highest in the school. At the higher level, Rhys E (R, IV) demonstrated that he has developed his computational thinking since last year, achieving a Best in School award whilst being one of the younger entrants in the Seniors competition.
