Michaelmas Term concludes with a Charity Christmas Concert
After a brilliant term of music making, the final concert of the term was the Charity Christmas Concert, held in the Maidment Building on Wednesday.
Always a popular event, this year’s performance was packed out, with members of the school and local community coming together to enjoy the festive spirit.
The evening began with a number of our smaller ensembles playing Christmas classics, including Mariah Carey on the marimba and Jingle Bells on the harp! The strength of the wind and brass department was showcased by brilliant performances by the Saxophone Quartet and Clarinet ensemble tackling some really entertaining arrangements. The singers also took the limelight, with beautiful carols from the Junior Girls Choir and a senior duet by Hettie S (EDH, LVI) and Oliver C (R, LVI) wishing us all ‘A Merry Little Christmas’.
The second half of the programme featured the Big Band and Jazz Band, fresh from their success at the National Concert Band Festival. As ever, they brought great energy and dynamism to the stage with a swinging array of festive hits.
The evening’s performance was in aid of Childline – if you would like to donate, you can do so at: Childline | Childline
