Old Salopian awarded The Queen’s Medal at Sandhurst
An Old Salopian has received one of the most coveted awards at the recent Commissioning Parade at The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
Max Stratton-Morris (S 2012-2017) was awarded The Queen’s Medal which is given to the officer cadet who has achieved the best overall results in military, academic and practical studies. Max was also awarded The State of Kuwait Prize for the cadet who produced the best performance in Defence and International Affairs. Max received the awards at the recent Sovereign’s Parade.
The cadets were congratulated by the head of the French Army General Pierre Schill who represented the King at the event, which also marked 120 years on the Entente Cordiale – a series of agreements signed on 8th April 1904 between the UK and the French Republic. This was particularly appropriate for Max who spent part of his childhood in France!
Max has been commissioned into The Royal Irish Regiment. This is the second time in recent history that Old Salopians have received top honours on the officer training course at Sandhurst. Last December Lucy Petch (MSH 2012-14) was awarded the Sword of Honour, the prize for the cadet judged to be the overall best in the intake.
