Sixth Form pupils immersed in Italy's culture for History of Art trip
Shrewsbury School students recently had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage of Florence.
The trip, designed to complement their studies, provided a unique and memorable educational experience for our History of Art Sixth Form pupils over the half term break.
Will B (S, UVI) said: “The Florence trip was one packed full of culture, fun and most importantly, food! We flew into Pisa and then caught a quick train into Florence central.
“During our time there we followed a jam packed itinerary full of activities and museum visits relevant to our course. The trip really brought to life the paintings, sculptures and architecture that we have studied in class.
“We trekked hundreds of stairs up the Duomo which rewarded us with a scenic view of the stunning Renaissance city. The two highlights of the trip for me were going to a live opera concert in an intimate chapel, where we listened to classical Italian opera songs, and going to the Galleria del Accademia to see Michelangelo’s 'David'.
“Overall, the trip was incredibly useful for my learning and was a great cultural experience which will be hard to top.”
This enriching trip underscores Shrewsbury School's commitment to providing students with diverse and impactful learning opportunities, blending academic pursuits with vibrant cultural experiences.
