Yesterday saw our bi-annual Field Day take place at various locations across the country with a wide range of activities on offer for all our pupils.

Field Day is an opportunity for Salopians to get out and about with fellow members of their societies and to experience a different way of learning.

Students travelled to various locations across the UK, from caving in Snowdonia to exploring a variety of art galleries in London, as well as observing wildlife at the Wetlands in Gloucester to diving in Dosthill Quarry, our Salopians really covered the length and breadth of the country.

A little closer to home, our boys’ cricket team headed to Meole Brace Golf Club to try their hand at a different kind of sport, our girls' cricket team visited 'Go Ape' in Cannock and our Concert Party visited Old Park Primary School in Telford, where they performed for the pupils and helped them with music making sessions.

Back on the school site, our Dance society took part in a series of workshops, our Dragons Den group developed their presentation skills and our Global Social Leaders held a tea party for the elderly, where we welcomed residents of local care homes to enjoy some musical entertainment from our pupils, a demonstration from representatives from the Guide Dogs charity, all finished with a game of bingo.

This was also a great opportunity for our pupils to get involved with a range of volunteering projects; from the tea party to reading with primary school children, to learning how to teach mindfullness to other year groups and talking to pupils in Kenya for the Restart buddying programme.

With all this as well as a trip to the Thinktank in Birmingham, a Nitex at Packwood for our CCF and mountain biking in Mid Wales, it certainly was a jam-packed day for all Salopians involved.

Look out for a video next week highlighting all that went on during Field Day!
