A Salopian will be making her television debut in an upcoming ITV production.

Kate W (M, LVI) will be starring in the new CITV series ‘Ted’s Top Ten’, which airs on Monday December 6th for 10 episodes, before moving on to ITV in January.

Earlier this year Kate spent the summer in Belfast, Northern Ireland filming the series after landing the role in May.

“I’ve had an agent for a few years now who sends through auditions, and for this part it was a self-tape audition,” said Kate.

“I do a few auditions a year and so far, nothing had come of them until now when I got this audition in the middle of my GCSEs. They emailed me with a script which I didn’t spent too long on, as I thought I wasn’t going to get it, but I got through to a recall on Zoom with the Casting Director before they told me that I’d got the part.”

The series follows a boy called Ted on his Middle School journey, with Kate playing a friend of the main character’s sister who she describes as ‘a sweet girl’.

“The filming process was really fun,” continued Kate.

“I went there for two weeks, came back for a week to get my GCSE results, and then went back again for four weeks. The early mornings were difficult and time on set varied from four to five hours to maybe 11 or 12, but it was a really great experience so that made it all worthwhile.

I’ve wanted to do television for ages, so to finally get in front of the camera was so much fun. I’ve done some acting on stage in London before, but this is my first television appearance, so I was quite nervous on the first day!

“I haven’t told many people about the series; my friends know, and my Housemistress told the rest of the house so I think we will sit down and watch it together when it airs next week. Everyone has been so supportive.”

Kate also credits the Drama department with help throughout her audition process.

“The Drama department have always helped me out with auditions, and Doc Brown helped me prep monologues for my National Youth Theatre work. Doing musicals and plays here really help too, and I’m really looking forward to performing in our latest production Chicago, which I hope everyone enjoys!”

Ted’s Top Ten airs on Monday, December 6th on CITV.
