On Wednesday we lifted the festive spirits in the Maidment with the annual Christmas Concert that was well received, I’m sure the Christmas dress worn by all on stage helped!

It was a lovely evening given by a huge number of our students with a definite jazz and vocal steer, the most impressive part of the evening was that it was just so evident that the students were clearly thoroughly enjoying themselves. Highlights included a rather impressive performance of A Christmas Card by the Wind Quintet that began the evening with style and accuracy,  Feliz Navidad sung with panache by the Junior Girls Choir accompanied by a small combo from the Big Band.

After an interval of mulled wine and mince pies, the ever growing and musically tight Jazz Band took to the stage to begin the second half directed by Katy Landon followed the finale for the evening, the Big Band, in a set that included three festive vocal items, The Man with the Bag sung by Gabriela T (G, UVI), the classic White Christmas by Edward P (R, UVI) and our own Buble, Billy G (SH, LVI)  in a show stopping rendition of Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town.
