Lunchtime concert in Ludlow impresses the audience
On Thursday January 26th, the school musicians went to the recently refurbished assembly rooms in Ludlow to give a lunchtime recital.
The assembly rooms are a highly sought-after regional venue that holds music and arts events. We took a selection of soloists and ensembles to play to an appreciative audience.
Highlights included a senior group playing the Quintet in C minor, Op. 1 by Dohnanyi, and a fabulous 4-hands-at-one-piano duet with Marina K (EDH, V) and Arthur H-B (I, UVI). There was a violin solo, a brilliant Hungarian dance for bassoon, an amazing piece of Franz Liszt on the piano, and the well-polished flute quartet performing the Grand Quartet in E minor, Op.103 by Kuhlau.
Maria McKenzie, Director of Music, introduced the concert and we welcomed some notable Old Salopians back in the audience. The hope is to return on a regular basis, and we certainly enjoyed the new hall and the warm welcome.
