Athletics results and fixtures - a busy season for Salopians

It has been a busy term for Shrewsbury athletes, with even more fixtures still to come in the diary.  

Before half term Iris D (G, UVI) and Jack K (PH, V) travelled to London to take part in the Night of the 10k PBs; Iris was 1st in her 800m race with a time of 2.05.95 and Jack finished 4th in a time of 1.54.73 - well done to both.  

Over the holidays we also had a number of athletes taking part in the British Milers Grand Prix at Sport City:  

•  Iris – who came 6th in the 800m in a time of 2.06 
•  Jack – who came 7th with a season’s best of 1.53.31 in the 800m  
• Will S (R, UVI) - who came 3rd with a PB of 3.47.51 in the 1500m 

Harry P-M (I, V) also had a busy half term with some fantastic results in the British Milers Classic 800m with a PB of 2:00:17, a 1st place at the Trafford Open Medal 400m with another PB of 52.26 and another PB at the Trafford Grand Prix 1500m with a time of 4.15.35. 

The second half of summer term is set to be a busy one; on Saturday, June 10th 74 Shrewsbury Athletes will be heading to Telford for the Shropshire Schools Athletics Championships – good luck to all taking part! 

Sunday also sees the final of the Sidney Darwin Dash and the Quarter Mile Challenge. This event is a highlight in Shrewsbury’s sporting calendar and is set to be a hotly contested event. Races start at 11.15am, with refreshments available from 11am.  

Spectators are welcome, and entrants into the younger children’s race are more than welcome to join.
