Head of Higher Education receives Impact Educator award
A Shrewsbury teacher has been recognised as a Morehead-Cain Impact Educator by a former pupil.
Toby Percival, Head of Higher Education and teacher of Classics, received the accolade from the Morehead Cain foundation at the University of North Carolina.
Mr Percival was nominated for the awarded by OS Joss Gowar, who recently became the second Shrewsbury pupil to receive the prestigious scholarship, following on from Finn Sansom who received the award in 2022.
Mr Percival said: "I was honoured to receive the Impact Educator award from the Morehead Cain foundation, which I share with all of my colleagues, who do so much every day to prepare Salopians for their next adventures.
“The aims and values of the Morehead Cain scholarship align neatly with those of the school and so I am delighted that they recognise both the qualities of our pupils and the work that Shrewsbury does. The opportunities that the scholarship provides are phenomenal and it is fantastic that two Salopians will be benefit from them next year."
The Impact Educator initiative celebrates teachers from around the world, with recipients of this year’s award coming 12 countries.
Mr Percival is the second member of Shrewsbury staff to receive the award; Philosophy and Theology teacher Mike Tonks was named in the 2023 cohort of Impact Educators after being nominated by Finn Sansom.
