Fifth Former receives standing ovation for performance at St Chad's
Our first external concert of the academic year was certainly one have not been missed, Marina K (EDH, V) performed her first ever public concert in St Chad’s to a wonderfully supportive audience.
Rightly so, she received a standing ovation at the end, certainly testament to her incredible performance.
Marina began with two equally impressive pianos pieces, a Lizst Transcendental study, and Grandos’ technically demanding Allegro de Concierto. Following this, Marina continued to dazzle the audience with a programme of pieces on the marimba that a conservatoire student would be at home performing. The virtuosic nature of Velocities by Schwantner capitated the audience both with the variety of timbres on offer and the dramatic visual display of Marina’s playing.
Natalia T (EDH, LVI) joined Marina for a performance of Divertimento for Marimba and Saxophone by Japanese composer, Yuyama. Their duet was of the highest level and demonstrated a huge level of musicianship of both performers.
Both students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity as much as the audience and we have already been invited back next year!
