Two Sixth Formers will be spending their summer performing as part of the National Youth Music Theatre.

Ivo W (Rb, LVI) and Natalia T (EDH, LVI) have successfully auditioned and been selected to perform as part of the National Youth Music Theatre this summer which is fantastic news and a fabulous opportunity, working with some of the very best professionals in the world of musical theatre.

Ivo auditioned on trumpet and will be performing in Merrily We Roll Along by Stephen Sondheim and George Furth directed by Katherine Hare at the Southwark Playhouse in London and Natalia will be playing Reed 1 (flute, piccolo and alto saxophone) in The Boy Who Sailed the Ocean in an Armchair by Jordon Li-Smith at the Curve Theatre in Leicester.

Ivo said: “I am really surprised but glad about being selected and I can’t wait to be performing in London. It will be exciting to hopefully meet lots of creative people who I can learn from.”

Natalia added: “As a keen musician I’m incredibly proud and excited to have been selected for the National Youth Music Theatre. It’s an experience that varies from the usual music exams and school concerts and hopefully will be an opportunity to learn and take on as much as I can in order to develop as a flute and saxophone player.

“I am particularly looking forward to meeting and sharing ideas with other eager musicians around my age and seeing how the standard of musical ability at other schools compares with Shrewsbury. I’m sure my selection will prove a fruitful adventure!”
