Shrewsbury
Spring Gala Concert – Around the World at Shrewsbury Abbey
You are warmly invited to the splendid surroundings of Shrewsbury Abbey for our Spring Gala Concert.
Featuring a worldwide tour of gems of the choral and instrumental repertoire; this concert is the perfect preparation for half term travels!
On Sunday, March 27th, the Chamber Choir will set us on our way with Vaughan Williams’ quintessentially English Three Shakespeare Songs. Then we are off to Norway - with Symphony Orchestra - for Peer Gynt, to Germany for Hansel and Gretel and Mexico for Marquez’s flamboyantly festive Danzon No.2. Listen out for the percussion!
The Wind Orchestra and Concert Band will be evoking the sights and sounds of Yorkshire and Scotland featuring that great Murrayfield anthem Highland Cathedral. Mr Joyce and the String Orchestra travel to Central Europe for a jewel by the Hungarian composer, Emanuel Mor, his Serenade.
We hope that as many of you as are able can travel to Shrewsbury Abbey to join us. The musicians are looking forward to their first gala concert for two years and would love to have your support. It is a wonderful setting for superb music-making with a glorious acoustic.
