Shrewsbury MUN success at Cheadle Hulme Model United Nations
Shrewsbury School MUN won a plethora of awards at the recent Cheadle Hulme Model United Nations.
Last weekend, our MUN delegates travelled north to take part in the competition, acting as China and Afghanistan.
The A team, China, won the Highly Commended Delegation trophy, which is one of the top performances by a Shrewsbury team at this highly competitive conference in the last few years.
In addition, some members of the China and Afghanistan teams won individual awards.
George R (PH, IV) won the Outstanding Delegate award in the Environment and Science Committee
Matthew W (SH, IV) won the Best Junior Delegate award in the Political Committee
Jeremy C (R, IV) won a Highly Commended Delegate award in the Social, Cultural and Humanitarian Committee
Liam G (Rt, LVI) won a Commended Delegate award in the highly competitive Human Rights Council
Hazel M (M, LVI) won a Commended Delegate award in the Human Rights Committee
Chelsey D (MSH, IV) (representing Afghanistan) won a Highly Commended Delegate award in the Science and Environment Committee. The latter award to Chelsey was an extraordinary achievement for someone at their first ever conference.
Teacher I/C MUN, Huw Peach, added: “As you can imagine, I am delighted by the team's success, and we are now looking forward to building on this success at Royal Russel International MUN in the first 4 days of half term, Wychwood MUN in Oxford in November and Manchester Grammar MUN on December 10th.”
