On Sunday evening we had our annual Evening of Song that was presented this year from the Great American Songbook.
This was another truly enjoyable event that featured singers from throughout the school, Third form to Upper Sixth. The concert showcased a huge array of styles from soloists, small ensembles to the large Girls Choir and Chamber Choir.
A few highlights of the concert include, Pippa L-S (G, IV) and Will O'H’s (Ch, IV)very humorous and engaging account of Anything you can do I can do better, whilst Eleanor K (MSH, UVI) and Lwsi R (M, UVI) sang a beautiful duet arrangement of Happy Days/Get Happy.
Ethan P (I, UVI), Jay W (SH, UVI) and Ivo W (Rb, LVI) provided a brief instrumental interlude in the vocal programme with an exquisite performance of a gorgeous arrangement of Moon river for two violins with piano accompaniment.
The Chamber Choir sang a selection of well-chosen arrangements of Great American Songbook classics including Skylark, featuring vocalist Kate W (M UVI) supported by Chester Y (CH, LVI) (flute), Ethan P (Drums) and Jensen K (SH, LVI) (bass), Let’s do it! and finished with a stunning performance of an eight part arrangement of Over the rainbow.
