Salopians perform in established St Alkmund's lunchtime concert
We were delighted to be welcomed to a slightly chilly St Alkmund’s last week as part of their established lunchtime concert series.
The temperature did not detract from an exceptional performance given by the Chamber Choir conducted by Richard Stafford. Their eclectic programme featured various genres from an early sacred setting by Robert Pearsall to more secular works by Herbert Howells and Daniel Elder, even spanning into a stylistically apt arrangement of the jazz classic, Let’s do it.
The whole concert was bookended by two Advent Carols which were perfect for the time of year. Highlights for me were the Call of Wisdom by Will Todd, ably accompanied by Callum Alger on the organ and a lovely arrangement of Skylark by John Rutter which featured Chester Y (Ch, LVI) on jazz flute and alto soloist, Kate W (M, UVI).
